Poetry was the focus of the first quarter of College Writing, and this portfolio has a total of seven poems.

Quarter 1

The object of this prompt was to write an object poem. The thing I chose was my old alarm clock.

Treetop is what is considered a "stolen poem" where a certain part of it was similar to a published poem, be it a line, a topic, or the way it's formatted. I used the formatting and single-sentence style of "The Lily" by Mary Oliver.

This place poem takes place at the desk I had in high school, a big old drafting desk my great-grandfather made for my own father back when he was in high school.

This is a memory poem, based off of the many times I had books taken away in elementary school because I was forever reading under the desk. Don't make a funny face—they were always more interesting than the lesson.

This poem's narrator is, if you couldn't tell, a daydreamer, who spends their days letting their mind wander to impossibly fantastic places.

This poem is a sensory poem. It cuts off all senses besides that of hearing. No sight, no feel, just sound.

This is the much-edited version of "A Cloak of Wolf Skin" which can be found on the home page. It's a twisted version of "Little Red Riding Hood" where the wold gets his much-deserved revenge.

Hello! My name is Sayle, and I created this website back in my freshman year of high school as a place to put my writing, specifically the pieces I've written for school. I've wanted to be a novelist since second grade, and I've been a huge book-lover since before kindergarten. As of November 2016, I completed the first draft of my first novel. I'm currently working on the sequel, as well as several side stories featuring minor characters from the original novel. I hope to be able to get my extended universe, known comprehensively as The Elemental Spiral, published, or on it's way to being published, after I graduate high school. In total, I've written four books, two novels and two novellas, in addition to various shorter pieces.
