Third quarter was all about "The Art of the Essay" and is a compilation of a total of six different kinds of essays.

Quarter 3

The first piece is a textual analysis essay, and it's analyzing The Overprotected Kid by Hanna Rosin. The printed and annotates version of this article (which I scanned into the computer) can be found to the right of my essay.

This is a 100-Word Rant, a genre my high school often used. The point is to get the message across in exactly 100 words. In this Rant, I'm explaining the difference between the author and the narrator of a story.

The writing prompt for this essay was to explain something about how I write, or why writing is important to me.

The full title of this is really American Society for the Promotion of Animal Cruelty. It's a mini-commentary essay about why I am against the practices of the ASPCA.

This is a photo essay. The goal was to have an essay that could stand apart from the photo, but have a connection of sorts to the photo that strengthened the essay when it was present.

This commentary essay idea was sparked by the constant insistence from my younger brother than I just have to have a boyfriend in high school, and I'm basically refuting the mindset that says people have to have a significant other in high school.
